CHANGE OF DIOCESE

The Church commissioners have now sent us the official notice of the Pastoral Scheme which confirms that from 1st February 2008 we are part of the Ouzel Valley Team Ministry and become part of the Diocese of St Albans.

The full documents can be seen at the Parish Office, and are publicly displayed in the notice board outside St Barnabas front porch, on the gates at St Mary’s Old Linslade, and on a notice board in the St Barnabas hall Link. They confirm that the Parish of Linslade “shall continue distinct” within the Ouzel Valley Team Ministry, which is of course already in existence having been set up in December 2005.
When Revd Bernard Minton joins us in May he will be installed as a team Vicar with the special responsibility of the “cure of souls” in the Parish as our Vicar, and a more general responsibility within the team and ministry as designated by the Team Rector.
Bernard and his family will live in our Vicarage.

The legal formalities of transferring the Church building and Vicarage from the Diocese of Oxford to the Diocese of St Albans are complete. The Parish hall remains vested in the Parochial Church Council of Linslade and our refurbishment programme will continue.

As a Parish we are gaining greatly from becoming part of a strong team which is already up and running. To make the best use of resources – of which Clergy time and Pastoral care are paramount – there is a need to integrate and dovetail some administrative and communication functions with those already functioning within the team. Discussions are well advanced to achieve this.

Locally we will belong to the Archdeaconry of Bedford and the Deanery of Dunstable and be able to call upon their experience and guidance as we seek to take our full – and rightful – part in our new joint future.

Our objective of becoming part of a unified Anglican witness in the town of Leighton-Linslade is now achieved. It is up to all of us to play our part to ensure success.
