Sunday School

The following is taken from the report to the APCM 2007

This is the end of my 4th year organising Sunday School and it has been necessary for me to take a little more of a “back seat” approach following my return to part time paid employment. We have a wonderful team of people running Sunday school who have each taken a fair share in our responsibilities throughout the year. I would like to thank Liz Thomas, Miranda Soper, Avril Gunner, Fiona Throssell, Joan McDowall and Wyn Jones for their enthusiastic assistance and support that has enabled Sunday School to achieve so much.

This is what we have been up to:

As usual we have run our toy stall at the Summer Fair.

On the 1st October we organised the All Age Service for Harvest when we talked about the work of the Emmaus Village at Carlton and The Mayday Trust at Kilgour Court with homeless people.

In December we made a tree for the Christmas Tree Festival. We also made the Christingles and produced a simple Nativity tableau for the crib service on Christmas Eve. We had to do something a bit different this year as we had so few children.

Since Christmas we have been running Sunday School every week for 7 children who come on a fairly regular basis.

We performed a poem about Pancakes at Catherine’s leaving party on Shrove Tuesday.

We have produced a flyer advertising Sunday School and Barnacles. These will be kept at the back of the church for the sidespeople to offer to visitors and newcomers with children.

We have planned the All Age Service for Mothering Sunday and made the posies of flowers for distribution on that day.

This brings us to the end of another successful year with Sunday School.

Jenny Smith
Sunday school leader.
