Minutes of the meeting of March 1st 2000
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved by the council and signed by the Chairman as an accurate record of the meeting.
Matters arising from the minutes:
20/99 Child Protection 17 forms had been completed and 3 more were to come. Two new Sunday school member were to be given forms. Mr. Darvill said that the insurance needed to be checked as we required extra cover. The child protection policy would need to be approved by the PCC and a copy of a model statement was given to members, and a copy of "Better Safe than Sorry" would also be given to members.
36/99 PCC Retreat. In view of Father Colin’s departure, the retreat will be postponed until a later date.
37/99 Deputy Organist. Mr. Derek Bird was to be approached regarding this vacancy.

02/00 St. Mary’s
Quotations had now been received for tower repairs to a total of approximately £14,500 + VAT. These were to be sent to the diocese and, eventually, paid out of the Biley fund
A quote from ABS for the repair of the floor, including the removal of loose blocks, re-setting in pitch and replacement of damaged blocks had been received for £382. A motion was proposed by Mr. J. Deighton and seconded by the Mrs. W. Jones that this work should be undertaken. The proposal was carried nem. con.
03/00 Organist
The agreement with the organise was due to be reviewed by the Chairman, the Churchwardens and the organist. The organist's fee of £1000 was set 10 years and it was proposed to increase to £1250 from the start of the new agreement (with occasional services to remain the same). The motion to increase the fee was proposed by Mr. Darvill and seconded by Mr. J. Deighton. The motion was passed nem. con.
04/00 Finance
Mr. Soper had completed the annual return for the diocese. The projection for 2001 indicated that an increase in income of 7% would be needed, with a similar figure for 2002.
05/00 Strategy for Evangelism
It was agreed to contact Matthew Kruscek, Deanery Evangelist Enabler, and ask him to lead a meeting on this subject.

06/00 St. Barnabas.com
The Parish Website had been established with the internet address of http://www.linslade-parish.org.uk/index, and this webpage would link with the town and diocesan websites. The Linslade site would contain information about both St. Barnabas' and St. Mary's.
07/00 St. Barnabas' Festival
A meeting for stallholders would be arranged for next Sunday. Raffle tickets were available, but they now needed to be sold. The Candy Floss stall at the town May Fair would be in aid of the May Fair. Mr. Griffin had acquired a drinks licence. Father Colin's last festal evensong would be on the Sunday of that weekend and would include the All Saints' Choir.
08/00 AoB
08a Church Wall. This had been damaged by a car and the estimate for repair came to £3385. These costs were now being dealt with by the driver's insurance.
08b Garden of remembrance at St. Mary's. Tablets only can be placed on the spot where ashes are buried. Shrubs and plants are not allowed. Notice would be set up and the wording would be discussed at the next standing committee.
08c Glass cruets. Medium-sized cruets standing on an engraved silver-plated tray together with a lavabo were to be purchased in memory of Peter Pain by his family and presented to the Church.
08d A letter had been received from Mrs. Mary Connew asking that the "Stations of the Cross" be left up in Church throughout the year. Professor Stannard proposed and Mrs. Cudby seconded a motion that they should continue to be displayed dring Lent only. It was agreed to write to Mrs. Connew to this effect.

08e Voces Intimae have donated £120 to the Church following a concert held on Saturday 8th April 2000.
08f Father John was to be asked to talk the council about the new liturgies
08g A letter regarding the unsuitability of the plastic bin in church had been received. It was agreed that the bin should be resited and a letter should be sent to the letter's author.
The meeting closed with prayers at 9.55 p.m.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE JEMIMA LAWFORD CHARITY: wednesday 26th april 2000, 9.55 p.m.
Present: as for the PCC meeting on same date.
Mr. Soper proposed and the Chairman seconded a motion that the charity's accounts be incorporated in to the main PCC accounts. The motion was proposed nem. con.
