Keith chaired the meeting. The only item on the agenda concerned the building of the link between the Church and the Parish hall.
42/05 Linslade Parish Hall: Stage 1 (Link and
reception)
Keith explained the purpose of the meeting, which was to agree the appointment of the contractor to build the link. A paper had been distributed previously, outlining the tenders received. (copy on file). All three tenders have their good points but the favoured tender is from Apex Carpentry. The architect has worked with them before and reported that they are responsive to queries and good with clients, especially if there are any extra problems. John Hardern will continually supervise the project that can start as soon as contracts are signed with the contractor and with Grantscape. Grantscape requires a signature of satisfaction from the architect before any money is released. There are other details to be confirmed; one of which is the payment points that will be at fairly regular intervals. The contractors have promised minimal disruption during Church services but the position of lettings of the hall is still unsure and will need to be discussed.
Keith proposed that the PCC agree:
a) to the appointment of Apex Carpentry and Construction with regard to the building of the church-hall link as stage 1 of the project
b) to the parish officers’ (churchwarden(s) and priest-in-charge) signing contracts with Apex Carpentry and Construction for this work
c) to the parish officers’ signing contracts with Grantscape (formerly Shanks.first) in respect of the grant of £52,000 towards the construction of stage 1
d) to agree to the allocation of funds from the hall account sufficient to cover the construction costs of £77,551 plus £2000 for internal screening and an additional 15% maximum to cover contingencies, all minus the Grantscape grant.
Nick seconded the proposal. All agreed.
