St. Barnabas Church will be running an Emmaus group covering the basics of the Christian life aimed at enquirers, new Christians and those who would like a refresher course.
Emmaus: The Way of Faith is a course designed to welcome people into the Christian faith and the life of the church. It aims to involve the whole church in evangelism, the nurture of new believers and ongoing Christian discipleship. It is rooted in an understanding of evangelism, nurture and discipleship modelled on the example of Jesus in the story of the Emmaus Road .
The group will meet in a friendly, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with an introductory get together and refreshments to take place on 10 October at Jayne Humphreys house. Following the initial introductory get together the group will meet fortnightly commencing on 31 October 2007 .

Reverend Catherine Dyer stepped down at the end of February
Reverend Catherine Dyer, Priest-in-Charge at St. Barnabas Linslade, retired from her post at the end of February.
Reverend Catherine broke the mould in Linslade by becoming the first ever woman priest in the parish and has been in Linslade since moving from Slough in May 2001. Any remaining opponents to women in the priesthood were rapidly converted by Catherine’s welcoming style and she has made considerable changes to the life of the church since her arrival. Churchwarden Keith Saunders said “Catherine has played a huge role in helping us to develop our role in the community and will be sorely missed”.
Fellow churchwarden Nick Moore said: “ We are very grateful indeed for all that Catherine has done for us over the last six years and wish her a long and happy retirement”
St. Barnabas will now be seeking to appoint a new Vicar later in the year. The process can take up to a year and comes at a time when St. Barnabas Church is looking to move from the Diocese of Oxford, joining All Saints in the Diocese of St. Albans.
Catherine Dyer’s final Sunday was February 25th and all were welcomed to bid her farewell at her last 10 a.m. service. The church was packed with wellwishers.
